My weekends are crap-tastic. I work as an actor, so I'm chock full of rehearsals and performances. Sorry for my silence. I would have warned ahead of time, but it became night sooner than I expected.
First off. I couldn't for the life of me understand why everybody thought that lynching yesterday was going to tell us something. I didn't know roles were revealed with the lynch. My mafia group doesn't do any sort of role reveals, and I must have missed that part in the rules (if somebody could point me in the right direction for that, I'd appreciate it). That said, I don't know how much we actually learned, and it would have been great to have one more night for the cop/doc to make a difference. Something to consider for future games, if we ever have a ratio this tight again.
Moving on to today's stuff, I'll address some things in order of importance:
W_M - My cookie choice depends on where I am, but here's a short list of my favorites: White Chocolate Macadamia Nut (Subway, Costco), Trefoils (Girl Scouts), peanut butter cookies (usually homemade), and my current diet friendly favorite, cinnamon oatmeal raison, made with Splenda brown sugar. I trust this is enough to prove my innocence? Top suspect in a minute.
I think if the cop is alive, he should come out. We made our bed and forced the make or break day upon us, I think we now need to sleep in it. If the doctor is alive, he can keep the cop safe for a night, possibly longer. Even if the priest is dead, the mere threat that he might be alive could be enough to prevent the mafia from killing the cop tonight. So we're guaranteed another investigation for tomorrow, and possibly another one after that if things fall in our favor. That could be enough to save the game. Or he could stay silent, watch as we lynch wrong, and then he could kick himself for being an idiot. But I'm guessing if the cop hasn't come out yet today, it just isn't going to happen.
Okay, here are my main suspects:
1. Anybody who writes their suspect lists based on who's being "helpful" and who isn't. There are a few people that seem decently confident that I'm innocent, and I think they're either hideously naive, or really need to re-examine their concepts of mafia behavior. I don't play any differently if I'm mafia, and if my partner screwed up and I was the first to notice, you can bet I'd pounce on that error as fast as I could and hang my partner out to dry - because if I noticed it, somebody else inevitably would too, and you might as well get the brownie townie points for being "helpful." The info that lynched the townie yesterday certainly seemed "helpful" at the time.
2. Jason Maher. Several things bug me. First, he's advising the cop to stay silent. He says "I could understand calling the cop to come forward in a dire situation..." How else would you describe a day where if we're wrong, we lose? His point about the doc is helpful. Doc coming out helps very little, and isn't as advisable.
Next, there's the vote train for Nole. That train didn't include Nole himself, or Merlin, both of whom clearly weren't mafia, and it didn't include me. So it MUST have included at least 1 mafia vote, probably more. If you're innocent and didn't vote for Nole, you can apply the same logic.
Nole was clearly bandwagoned, and pretty quickly at that. So everybody in that train should have their reason for voting closely scrutinized. What's Jason's? "I did not re-read on day 1 before voting, a dumb move, because I definitely would not have band-wagoned." Well gee, that's swell. I guess it's just a shame that you also didn't re-read on day 1 AFTER voting, despite following up your vote with 2 more posts.
But Jason was a pile on vote, and the last of the day. His vote wasn't necessary to get the lynch, so it makes one think "Why would he pile on and make himself a suspect if he was mafia?"
That brings me to his post to W_M (132). In it, he says this:
"However, I would point out that w_m stuck to her guns on merlin despite the bandwagon building on nole. I would have thought if she was mafia she would have joined the conga-line."
My first thought was, "Why would W_M jump on as vote 6 instead of laying low?" My second thought was, "Maybe Jason is trying to provide cover for her, and she WAS trying to lay low." My third thought was, "Maybe Jason was trying to hide in plain sight by doing something so obviously suspicious that people would think it too obvious to be actual mafia activity."
There's rarely an argument in this game more effective than "If I was mafia, why the hell would I do _____________?" It's the weakest defense in the game ("Because you thought it would work, that's why!"), but it routinely works.
So that's where I'm at right now. W_M would be the third category on my suspect list, just because I find all the posting between her and Jason suspicious (mostly because of my suspicion of Jason). But if I had one vote to cast to keep this game going, I would cast it for Jason.
Wait a minute! I DO have a vote like that!
VOTE: Jason Maher
EDIT: Put my vote in bold so it's easier to see.
