As a note, I've received a few bids at this point. I will accept bids at nighttime, and apply them to the next day. But I will not mention the amounts of the high bid until midday.

First, reasons for no NK: 1. Admin decision due to the small number of people in this round or 2. A doc save.
Right now, I am leaning toward the admin decision.
So far we have a premature day ending celebration from soy and a "ditto" post from Fire.
Both can have the affect of casting suspicion on each of them, but I am trying to keep an open mind.
To start off the days discussion: water_moon - how much would you bid for today's investigation if you were the mafia? Would you spend everything on day 1 to attempt to block everyone else from winning?
Firehorse : How do you believe the wealth was distributed? i.e.What do you think the most money someone has? The least?
soy : Who would you like to have voted off today?
ray : Did you forget to send in your NK last night?

@nole: dear goodness no! We can't have more than 2 mafia in such a small group, and in all liklyhood there's only one.* If I were mafia I'd save every penny 'till the last minute, ie. day 2. (unless I was the big spender). The mafia's best tactic would be to figure out WHO placed the winning bid and off them, then it doesn't matter who they investigate, they'll never be able to clear or implicate anyone. *if it were 3 mafia 2 town, the town would have already lost. 2 mafia 3 town puts us at a tie day 1 with NK and even without a NK if we lynch the wrong person day 1, there's 2 mafia 1 town at the start of day 2, we've lost. Hence my belief that there's only one mafia. Now: working from 1 mafia 4 townies. NK means 1:3, wrong lynch (right lynch means we won, mute point) and a NK means day 2 starts off 1:1. That drops the liklyhood for allowing a N1 NK, thus still leaving 1:4. With a wrong lynch and NK, we start day 2 with 1:2 and if we get a wrong lynch we're done for. So since we have such a small group and it's likly to come up, goltar: how are lynch ties handled?

I didn't think my day beginning was premature - it was past Sunday at 9 PM -maybe I am not on the right clock.
I do not have an opinion yet as to who to vote off.
Any opinion as to how many roles in play with only us 5?

I think telling how you intend to bid or the amount you might bid makes it less likely that you will be the successful bid. Water says she is hanging on til the end for a big blow out - what happens if everyone does that...

Water says she is hanging on til the end for a big blow out - what happens if everyone does that... No. . . . . . . Water said that it would make sense for the MAFIA to hold out 'til the end. As a classiclly trained economist, I am familiar with time preference and while I may frequently show a low time prefence, the time we have is rather short -- as I pointed out in the second half of my comments -- and in this case, the Austrian school carries the greater weight.

goltar: how are lynch ties handled? Highest vote total throughout the day gets lynched. If both (or all) reached the same high vote total, the first to get there wins. I'm putting this in the rules post now.

Mid-day update. There are currently no votes, and the high bid at the moment is $25.

I think that the wealth was probably distributed in the following manner....lesser townie roles got more money than Power Roles. And if there is 1 Mafia, that person got the most. If there are 2 Mafia I think its a rather even distribution across the board. The 1 mafia is against all the towns money combined so it makes more sense that he/she was given the majority.

How many mafia does everyone think there is? In my opinion there is just one. I think the odds that there are 2 mafia are somewhat remote given the numbers. Not much to go on vote wise as usual. I got duped by Nac Runo last time.....
so I'll take a shot in the dark
