Interesting start to the day. No blood, no gore. Congratulations to the town for waking up alive on this fine morning. Anyone hazard a guess as to why there was no NK? So.. why do you have to wait for others to hazard a guess why there's no nk? Aparently you are able to hazard a guess as you show 2 posts later, but why wait for others to make a set up first? Just my nature - to engage in discussion or ask and listen to another's opinion first. Of course I already had my own theories. Am I supposed to be defensive about this?

There's two ways to encourage discussion. 1: You ask someone about something and discuss the matter if you have your own oppinion. 2: You give your oppinion and ask someone (or everyone) what they think.
More often then not, the first one is either to trap someone, see if your hunches are correct about someone or you just couldn't come up with anything. This may seem good, but it's also a very clever smoke screen if you're mafia. You engage a discussion about something you're interested in, but yet it seems like someone else started it by giving his oppinions. That way you're letting others play the game and you get a free ride discussing other people's behaviour. I like the second one better. At least you're honest in what you say and people can look back at what you wrote to either check on you or see if you made a mistake/slip up. Seeing you just said you already had your own theories, I take it you're in the first category. Now to find out if that's because you're trying to ride on other people's words or really because you want to find out more about people...
Here's another one for you soy: Seeing how we didn't have a NK night 1, you think it wise for the doc/block to protect/block the same person (assuming possible in his role description)?

I took out the more serious ones.. on which I highly disagree with #1 and don't think #3 is likely. Maybe the mafia does have some sort of consensus in this game, but most likely that's not true either. Which brings me to: Yeah doc save. Or in this case block save IMO the most likely one to have happened. No opening story of gruesome horrors that just got saved means we don't know for sure, but no story could very well mean the mafia just couldn't open their would-be-victim's door. Occam suggests that the vigilante didn't act (not Fire: Why didn't you think of a block? Muzz: Are you mafia? Jason: What's up? Not sure, My mind just wasn't in a blocking mode. But it does sound like the most reasonable explanation to me. That or space aliens.

For an initial day it has been unusually quiet. Jason, Liquid, Noodle and Nazdakka have been quiet. It would be nice to have more general discussion and theory.

I think while most of you are awake I'm asleep in my coffin. And when you are asleep I'm flying around here so I'm casting my vote now before Coffin Time. With the lack of chatter there is virtually nothing on which to base a vote. All I know is that I am not voting for the two people who have made an effort to post: Sint & Soylent.
So this vote is randomly cast toward a non poster for no other reason than non posting. Hopefully it will generate talk and we can get this game rolling. It is highly unlikely there will be no NK on Night #2 so lets make use of our lynches.

It looks like the NK was blocked then (nice one). I agree we should take this opertunity to get ahead of the mafia on day one for a change. So far we can't have any idea yet, going for a non-poster is not helping either, but if it gets the ball rolling...
No one looks more suspicious now, I'll wait and see what happen

damnation lack of multiquote function. Liq, your maths is off. A kill last night followed by a townie lynch would have left us at 3 to 4 - and a slight chance of surviving if the Mafia missed on night 2.
Sint, Firehorse: I'm here, and the roof is what's up.

Doesn't matter. People will most likely be unable to read me anyway. They'll suspect me more and more until I win or get NK'd. Either way, what I say about myself usually seems to be irrelevant. darn lack of multiquote function. Liq, your maths is off. A kill last night followed by a townie lynch would have left us at 3 to 4 - and a slight chance of surviving if the Mafia missed on night 2. Liq isn't playing. And the possibility of a second block/save is pretty slim. You don't really want to count on something like that. FIREHORSE: your reply #32 seems seriously messed up. I can't tell which point you're trying to make there. Do you think you could fix it?

Because you have two ways and I have more or other ways does not make me or my open ended question suspicious no matter how hard you work it.

Thus is the Liq effect demonstrated - even when he's not playing, he still plays with people's minds so it feels like he's playing. I believe it was actually your post I was referring to then muzzz.

sint: There are a lot of arguments for an intentional no-kill. Killing someone is a complete shot in the dark... you can go for the players you consider to be the strongest, in case they are mafia... but then the odds are that they are townie. Going after players you consider to be weak might work better, on the grounds that they are less of a loss to the town... but a weaker mafioso is also less of a threat. By not killing, you're also prolonging the game, and IMO a longer game favours the town.

A question and a point for consideration...
Question: Not sure really how important it is this early in the game but I am going to ask a question to the more experienced players. Is it usual or have you ever seen it happen where the moderator of the game sets the condition that there will be no NK on the first night? Does the mafia always have the ability to NK first night? Now I do believe the answer to whether there was no NK or whether it was blocked does not give us any useful information being that we know with no kills that we still have a role blocker AND a switcher in the game. We know IF we were given a doctor he is still in the game also. Also if anyone feels there is a something useful about this information please enlighten me. We have debated it a bit, people seem to want to know but is the information useful? My initial question for anyone to hazard a guess was mostly conversational.
Consider: In a game of 9 players there are 3 mafia. That is the equivalent to 6 mafia in a game of 18. Wow!! Would anyone care to discuss if the setup as we know it is balanced and what are the equalizing factors and how best can we use them? I know whoever our vigilante is has to wait until they have better information but that person is also going to be anxious to use their power before they get lynched and that equalizing factor is wasted.
