My oven died a couple of months ago, and since it is a Tappen oven from the 1950's (came with the house) and I already repaired it once (which took a custom-made part), and I think the insulation is rotted out...I decided to get a new one. Unfortunately, the oven is built into my wall and cabinets, and I really don't have the money for a new oven, let alone re-doing my kitchen.
Then I saw an infomercial for the NUWAVE PRO counter-top oven. So I ordered one. We are going to try it out tonight with baked potatoes, but supposedly we can cook all sorts of things in it, including frying bacon! Should be interesting...
It claims that you can clean it (except for the heating element) in the dishwasher, but it seems a bit big for my dishwasher. It was easy enough to clean in the sink, though (cleaned it before cooking, as recommended).

Well, it works fine for baked potatoes, so far. There's a trick to taking the lid off, though. Not only does the wire stand have to be hooked under a bottom handle, but the edge of the lid needs to go slightly under that handle, too, when setting it on the wire stand after cooking. Otherwise it is in danger of falling.

A little, I think, and I think it cooks more evenly. With the optional extender ring, you can cook bigger things or put two racks in to cook, say, vegetables and meat at the same time. I paid extra to get the extender ring, and the black version that comes with a stainless steel bottom pan rather than the no-stick pan. Here's a link to the FAQ: www.mynuwaveoven.com/faq.asp#2I noticed that there is also an infomercial for a similar product that uses a big bowl-like container (Flavor Wave Oven), but it uses a halogen lamp, which I've heard sometimes burn out and are hard to get replaced. Okay, tried a casserole and a hot sandwich. Okay, so far. I think it's going to work out. Jude
