That makes sense, but you could always start a new character! (I have well over a hundred, so far) Jude

Just wanted to comment on a new character (yes, yet another new character!) I started in Diablo II Lord of Destruction: Buffy the Amazon!
I am patterning her after Buffy the Vampire Slayer (from the Joss Whedon TV show of the same name).
I chose the Amazon (blond, female, good with crossbows and pokey things) and plan to put most of my points into the following skills:
Impale (perhaps with a throwing-type spear and a shield, rather than a two-handed spear)
Multiple Shot (with a crossbow)
Magic Arrow (again with a crossbow) which has the advantage of not needing ammo, causing magic damage, and using very little Mana
I also plan to give her the Passive Skills.

I wonder how impale woud work with throwing weapons... (since it uses up durability)

From my experience, it does use up the stack of throwing weapons as you use impale, so I guess Blizzard realized that that could be a loophole...

Took a break from my throwing Barb to start another new character, a Zeal, Blessed Hammer (haven't gotten that far, yet) and Thorns Paladin (with some points in Prayer plus one in Cleansing for Healing purposes. I also plan to put some in Salvation if I get that far.
Have you updated to the no-CD 1.1.2a patch, yet? It doesn't do much, but I accidentally got updated when I connected to battlenet to make sure the Blizzard ports were open on my new router.
Also, have you heard that the new OS X 10.5.3 update for the Mac system software breaks Diablo II and Starcraft, even with the Blizzard OS X game patches? This is very bad. It seems to be a problem on Apple's end about removing support for the 256 color palette. I bet this breaks some art software I have, too. I am glas I am still using OS X 10.3.9, even though it means I can't play some of the new games.
If I can ever afford a new Mac, I will play the new games, but still keep this one for Diablo II and all the other cool stuff that won't run on the new Macs (this Mac still boots into OS 9, too).

I'm running the Pit to get a few levels on my wind druid. He's currently level 76, twinked to the gills, and is pretty darn fun. The path of the tornadoes is a bit odd, which I appreciate. Using a prayer / insight merc for the first time, and really like the arrangement. Would love to MP with him once I pat him, probably this weekend sometime.

Haven't played in a long time, but the last couple of days I've been doing HF rushes again. 1 set of 7 characters rushed and runes gathered in about 3 hours...not too bad! Last nights tally wasn't that great, 2 Mal runes, but next highest rune was Lem (nightmare and hell HF). With the runes I've got right now, I'm ~25% of the way to Infinity. After collecting hell HF rune, I'm going to blow through LK and see if I can get lucky!

I started at least a half dozen new characters since my last post! ;D Some things never change...
My latest is an Assassin named LadyLuck, using my Serendipity variant (which is basically use what you find, only: no buying ANYTHING except ID scrolls and one Tome of Town Portal per difficulty level; quest items, gambling, cubing, socketing are okay, though). She's concentrating mostly on Tiger Strike and Blade Sentinel, although I plan to get Dragon Tail, Fade, and Shadow Master, too.

I'm currently playing a HC necro (replacing the HC necro that died). Basically I'm shooting for the biggest army in the history of necros, i.e. maxed Raise Skellie, Skellie Mages, a Golem (probably gumby) and maxed Revives, plus a moron of course. I'm playing untwinked, so I may not get the largest army ever (well, since they took away one skellie per skill point anyway), but I will prioritise any equipment that gives me a skill boost over anything else.
I'm currently at level 23 in act 2. My strategy is basically placing most of my points in RS, with the odd point in SM because it boosts the missile damage of the mages, and a point when available in clay golem, golem mastery, amp damage, summon resist, decrepify (plus pre-reqs), revive (plus pre-reqs). I'll max skellies first, then mastery, then mages, then revives.
Hopefully this time I don't do anything stupid (like falling asleep at the PC which got me killed last time).

Just two weeks ago i got a new laptop. And one of the first things i did was to install diablo obviously. Playing hardcore with a fresh start was in my mind for a while, and i thought thist would be the best time to do it.
I transferred one of my higher level chars to enable hardcore and than created a HC summoner necro just like Jason. I didn't play with him much and he still didn't face andariel but i will surely build my wealth in hardcore in time and do not go back to SC again.
I have read on a bunch of places that it is much better to level up a couple characters at the same time, in order to lighten the mood of losing a char; therefore i am planning to give a try to a hydra sorc named Hera and a strafezon named Artemis before i go to nightmare with my necro (named Hades btw =P).
I will certainly need some motivation in my HC career, trying to cath up to Jason would be a start =).

Started a new character, a Druid using Fire Claws, named Candelabre. I've never used Fire Claws before and have realized that you can eventually get an incredible amount of fire damage because of the 22% synergies from the elemental fire skills! Also going to put some points into Grizzly (fro physical damage) and a point or two into Spirit of Barbs to hurt back those who hit us. Will get a Cold merc when I get to the third act to slow enemies down. Jude

isn't there at least a few onsters immune to fire and physical?

Maybe, but that's why I socket my weapons with gems and runes that give me other attacks, like poison and lightning and cold. Plus the Cold Iron Wolf will help.
We'll see how well he does...
