Start Date: August 5, 9:00 p.m. US Pacific Time
I'll be editing this post as I go, and you'll see why in a bit.
Basic Rules
1. No talking about this game outside this thread. Only those roles who specifically state that they may communicate at night may do so.
2. Do not edit your post. If you made a mistake in your post, start another post.
3. If you are NK'ed, you are dead. That means you are no longer allowed to post in the thread. No ghost talking.
4. Daily votes must be bolded and placed on a separate line such as this:
Vote: goltar
Should you wish to change your vote, that also must be placed on a separate line:
Unvote: goltar
5. If you have any questions concerning the game, either PM me or ask in thread. Don’t expect a straight answer.
6. No flaming in thread. The site administrator (water-moon) reserves all rights to edit, delete, ban, ridicule, and refuse cookies to posts and posters who flame. If you believe there is a problem, please PM me and I will work with w_m to resolve the issue.
7. Days will be 48 hours long, nights 24 hours long. The round starts with a night. I will try to be on time but delays may occur, in that case please stop posting at the prescribed time and wait for me to end the day/night. Any post after the deadline will be deleted. The first night will be 48 hours to give communicating groups sufficient time to establish communications.
9. You can discuss any information that was in your PM, including quoting it word for word, as long as you don't claim that it was from (or inspired by) your PM.
10. Nothing cheesy, such as log in times, spousal observations, etc., should be entered into the thread. This is an elite mafia group, use your wits to PWN.
11. There is no need for a lynch. The one getting the majority of the votes gets lynched. There has to be at least two votes on the same person for a lynch to occur.
12. In the case of a tie, the highest vote total throughout the day gets lynched. If both (or all) reached the same high vote total, the first to get there wins.
Specific Rules:
1. Every player will start with some amount of money. I may also include each player gaining a small daily amount of money.
2. This money is to be used in daily silent auctions for the purpose of investigations.
3. I will post both a mid-day vote tally and a mid-day auction update. Specifically, the update will be the highest bid (if it is a tie, I will state as much), but NOT the player who has placed this bid.
4. At the end of the day, the highest bid will win the auction. If there is a tie, the bid which was sent to me first will be the winner.
5. All bids must be sent to me via PM containing two pieces of information: Your bid amount and your desired investigation.
6. The winner will receive an investigation of his/her choice. This can be one of two things. You can either investigate a player (dead or alive), in which case I will give a full reveal of that player's role and alignment, or you can investigate a role, and I will tell you if that role is among the living.
7. There will be more roles than players (most likely) and definitely more roles in the list than in the actual game. I will select the roles to be in the game completely at my discretion/whim/whatever method I choose. The assignment of those roles will be randomized.
8. There will be no role or alignment reveal on death.
9. Some roles may have specific abilities that could contradict something in the rules. The role's ability will supersede in this case.
10. When you die, any remaining money you have is gone.
11. Any groups with nighttime communication ability will (unless otherwise specified) be able to pool/redistribute their money during the night in any manner they see fit among their members. I must be made aware of this before day begins, as once day begins, no money may be moved between players (unless role specific). If group money is on a lynched or NK'd player, it is gone.
Roles (note that some roles will not have an alignment specified, and could be on either side):
Cop - Standard investigative role, gets one investigation per night.
Role Switcher - Switches two targets' roles for investigative purposes from the cop.
Target Switcher - Switches two people for all targeting purposes except auctioned investigation.
Doctor - Standard NK protection. The doctor's self healing and/or repeat healing capabilities will possibly be limited, depending on the number of players.
Blocker - Standard role blocker.
Thief - Able to attempt to steal money from another player. This is a chance to steal a portion of a player's money during the night.
Banker - Starts with more money.
Benefactor - If NK'd, the benefactor's remaining money will be split among the remaining townies. If lynched, the remaining money will be split among the mafia. May also start with more money.
Big Spender - Will spend (lose) a portion of remaining money daily. This money will be lost at the end of the day after any bid money is used.
Masons - Can communicate at night, town aligned. Also able to pool their money at night.
Spy - Basically, the spy is in a group, but not aligned with that group. For example, the spy can be a mafia member, but aligned with the town, or a member of both the masons (if in play) and the mafia. Obviously, there should be no obvious name spilling, but at my discretion, if the spy oversteps their bounds (obvious example of revealing all mafia members in a post), then the spy loses as does their side.
Captain Trigger Happy - The first player to target him at night will die. The doctor cannot prevent this death. If the mafia targets him for a night kill, a random mafia member will be killed, and he will live. If he is targeted by multiple players in one night, one will die at random.
Last Man Standing - Whatever the alignment of the last man standing, he can only be the last one of his team to die via lynch or NK. Other methods of dying will work, but a lynch or NK will always fail as long as there are others on his side.
Medium - Able to talk with the dead. The medium may choose one dead player per night and communicate via pm with that player for the duration of that night.
More roles will likely be added, and the rules will be clarified as needed.
