Welcome to Alpha Complex, Citizens.
Friend Computer has been made aware that there could be a cabal of Commie Mutant Traitors in the Complex. Friend Computer is very concerned at this. Friend Computer asks all loyal citizens to assist it in finding the truth.
Failure to comply is treason. Treason is punishable by death, citizen.
Friend Computer will leave you, loyal citizens, together for two days and two nights. At the end of this time, Friend Computer will ask you one simple question: Is there, or is there not a cabal of Commie Mutant Traitors amongst you?
If there is, and you answer correctly, then the Commie Mutant Traitors will be executed and all remaining citizens will earn one week on Recreation Level 5. If you answer incorrectly... then you will have failed. Failure is treason, citizen. Treason is punishable by death. Friend Computer will be forced to set the Commie Mutant Traitors free, to show the extent of your failure. Allowing Commie Mutant Traitors to go free is also treason.
However, if there are no Commie Mutant Traitors amongst you, then all who correctly exonerate their fellow citizens will earn a week on Recreation Level 5. Those who falsely accuse their fellow citzens will have failed. Failure is treason, citizen. Treason is punishable by death.
Choose well, citizen. Friend Computer is on your side, and wishes only to be free of Commie Mutant Traitors.
A little pre-Christmas alternative to Mafia for everyone...
Conspiracy.
The aim of this game is to figure out whether or not whether or not there is a conspiracy amongst you. Choose correctly, and you will be rewarded. Choose incorrectly, and Friend Computer will be most displeased. You wouldn't like that.
The rules (first draft):
The game consists of two nights and two days. Nights go first. There is a 50% chance that there is a conspiracy within the town. A conspiracy is a group of townsfolk who wish to remain concealed within the town. The members of a conspiracy may confer privately during the night. If it exists, the size of the conspiracy will be 50% of the town, rounded down so as to ensure that there is an odd number of non-conspirators (eg. 8 townies means a 3 person conspiracy. 11 townies means a 4 person conspiracy). Each day, the town may discuss whether or not there is a conspiracy. On day 2, everyone votes on whether they think there is a conspiracy (failure to vote is a) treason, and b) counted as a 'no' vote). Voting is just like Mafia, bold and on a separate line. So:
Vote: YES
if you think there is a conspiracy, or
Vote: NO
if you think there is not.
If you are a conspirator, you are perfectly entitled to vote. However, your vote won't be counted at the end of the day, for obvious reasons.
One member of the town will be noted by the computer at the beginning of night 1 as being definitely not a member of any conspiracy. This will happen regardless of whether or not any conspiracy exists.
Winning and losing:
If there is a conspiracy and more than 50% of the non-conspirators vote 'no', the conspiracy wins in first place. Second place goes to people who said 'yes', last place is people who said 'no'.
If there is a conspiracy and less than 50% of the non-conspirators vote 'no', the conspiracy is in last place. First place goes to people who said 'yes', second place is people who said 'no'.
If there is no conspiracy, everyone who voted 'no' wins, everyone who voted 'yes' loses. The more people who vote 'yes', the bigger the win for the people who vote 'no'.
Now, I said these rules are provisional. I'd like to split the game into two days so the conspiracy (if it exists) can adapt and discuss plans during the night. But... I'd like something to produce discussion on day 1. If you have any ideas, please speak up with them.
Additional:
No editing posts, checking activity stats, or quoting role PMs (not that you'd want to, but just to make sure).
Night posts should be editted out ASAP.
EDIT 1: Clarified voting. The votes of any conspirators are not counted.
EDIT 2: Removed no-unvote rule.
EDIT 3: Clarified whether conspirators get to vote.
EDIT 4: Confirmed non-conspirator added.
