I'm in for another round. I would love it to start today, but I can understand if we wait till the new year.

I just re-read w_m's post, and she stated definitively that we either start straight away or wait for the new year. I'm going to state definitively that we should wait. I think we would get a smaller game if we started now, and as we all know, the more the merrier. Also allowing people to choose their own role, and thus having to wait for PMs to come in before I can start the game will create delays.
I will however post up role lists and game rules in the meantime, in order to allow for feedback. For goltar's benefit, I was intending on including roles in the "other" category, which would be the Village Idiots as well as roles which can choose their alignment.
If water_moon has no objections, I will probably open a thread in the next couple of days for "statements of intent to play", along with the list of roles I have at this point, and to allow discussion specifically related to this round. The thread will mutate into the formal sign up and game thread come the new year. I can alternatively use the current thread for such goings on if w_m insists.

[glow=red,2,300]admin[/glow] I'd said quickly enough (the average game taking around 2 weeks), but if it'll take a few more days to start then waiting is probably best.
Go ahead and start a new thread, I don't mind. And as a standard practice when the host begins a round s/he will become a moderator in the game room but I'll be leaving the info bar up, it has nice lings like memerbs and b-days.
Any one can o/c go invisable, but frankly, if you use log in times, you're likly to get kicked out of the game one way or another. [glow=red,2,300]/admin[/glow]

I also think it's also fair to say that people like Nac Runo who have been mafia countless times and people like BobTheWarrior who have been townie countless times will choose a role not in line with their usual. hmmm, interesing and true in the one chance to practice it. And this goes to ric and Sint too: there is a sucessful way to have a double agent. It involves making him a target and making sure the mafia knows there's a turncoat. If you'll recall in my round the Turncoat (muzzz) was able to chose at the begining which "side" he was on. (muzzz had an amazing propensity for being mafia at the time and chose the town side) The mafia knew there was a turncoat, just not who it was or what he chose.

I am very keen to start a game as soon as possible.
I am pretty sure firehorse would play in a game that starts soon as well.

@ Jason- Are you going to use those 5 "facts" in your newest game?

Just as well, I don't remember mine Forum doesn't give a way to see *sent* PMs.

Just had a thought. Perhaps we could start an intermediate game with a basic setup: mafia, cop, doc, townies? Just for those who were keen to start straight away. I could run it, or someone else. A quickie game to tide us over until the next real game. Any takers?

I would like a quickie. Oh yes and also interested in a brief pre-Christmas game as proposed by Jason.

I have a non-Mafia idea which might fit to this kind of space very well.
This is the basic idea, I'm open to suggestions for improvements.
In a group of players, 50% chance that there is a group of ~40% of the players working together (called a conspiracy).
If there is a conspiracy, then they win if a majority of the non-conspirators say that there is no conspiricy.
If there is no conspiracy, everyone who says that there is no conspiracy wins, everyone who says that there is a conspiricy loses. The more people who are wrong, the bigger the win for the people who are right.
Game consists of 2 nights and 2 days. Nights go first, the conspiracy (if it exists) can talk at night. During day 2, everyone votes on whether or not there is a conspiracy. Then the game ends and all is revealed.
How does that sound to people?
(Will not be online until tomorrow evening, so can't answer questions until then)

I like that, Naz! I'm in the quickie train as well! Make the conspiracy something role-playable, like a plot to remove W_M from the top of these forums
