Has there been any news from Jason recently?

Yes there has - he is busy doing lots of assignment work. I still want to host a round, but as I'm not ready to go right now, I'll let someone jump the queue. I'm still getting used to checking this site actually. I used to check dii.net every day out of habit, until they started buggering around with ad placement. I'm yet to fall into the habit with this place, but at least I'm a more frequent visitor than Dashy. edit: if no-one else wants to, I'll host a more standard mafia round and put off my creative ideas until a later date. I'll also bug my wife to sign up on here before the next round. edit 2: discussion point: I love the idea of the village idiot/court jester role (i.e win by losing, for those of you who know the game 500, I love my misere (or nullo) calls), however I believe previous discussion has decided it is too powerful as it stands. Thus I have come up with two alternative ways to include this role, but make it a bit more difficult: a) a team of village idiots. Basically, they all have to get successfully lynched in order for them to win. Obviously, this gets much harder the more idiots there are, so the condition may 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 4 idiots have to get themselves lynched. I think probably a pair of idiots works best, and if one is NKed, the other reverts to plain townie status. b) antagonistic idiots. Here we have two village idiots who try and out-do each other. Basically, in order to win either idiot has to get themselves successfully lynched and ensure the other idiot does not get lynched. If both get lynched, they become (dead) townies. Jason

Well then, if Jason isn't ready at the moment, does the buck get passed to Ray Patean to host?

Yup. Go do discussion/sign-ups Ray.
@jason: the main problem I always saw with VI's is that it quickly becomes too hard on the town. Either the town worries too much and doesn't lynch enough scum, or they ignore it and lynch the idiot. As long as there's no meaningful interaction between scum and idiots, it's pretty much a lose-lose situation for the town.

I have a very differnt set up in mind (thanks to liquid's linky) and goltar has mentioned something about a "mullet troll" so I don't know how standard his'll be either.
It's up to you Ray!

So muzzz, would either of my suggestions alleviate that problem, or do you think it would only make it worse?
I will put my hand up now to host the next round (after Ray). I will begin now dreaming up the most evil possible game scenario, with the most complicated and intricate rule set, so that no-one, mafia included, will have a hope in hell of figuring out what is going on. ;D

So muzzz, would either of my suggestions alleviate that problem, or do you think it would only make it worse? The way I see it, the power of the idiot himself doesn't really matter. It's always the town that has to distinguish idiot from mafia. Mafia just need to prioritize anyone who's not a regular townie. Anyway, it's not a showstopper. Just something to keep in mind when balancing the sides. Heck, you could even decide that the town deserves a little handicap. I probably won't be on their side anyway.

A full explanation of the method I used could take a CERN-sized team of scientists years to review. Lets just say it works (obviously), and could be adapted to control the weather or predict nuclear decay.

Well, when it comes to it, I'm ready to host, so put me next in line. If I read things correctly, I'm after Jason.

I'll get a post together and get the sign-ups going tomorrow. It's October 11th and I still don't see that sign-up thread! I don't want to have to kill you, Ray...
