A St. Louis Favorite that should be worldwide! It's very rich so cut it into small pieces, but you could just live off the smell too. ;D
Crust: 1 box yellow cake mix (or enough mix from scratch for a two layer cake) 1 stick butter (1/2 cup) 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Melt the butter and mix it all together. the batter should be very stiff, so you can speard it all long the bottom and a little up the sides of a 12 x 8 pan.
Filling: 8oz. package of cream cheese 2 eggs 2 to 3 Cups powered sugar
Cream togther the the cheese and eggs, then add the powered sugar until the batter is just a little runnier than cake batter, save a little powered sugar for dusting the top when it's all finished. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Cake will be lightly browned, and it will rise, but don't rely on the toothpick test, this cake should still be soft and gooey. Sprinkle with powered sugar straight out of the oven and let it cool for a little before serving.
Notes and variations: For a real rich treat, use a 9 x 9 and increase temp to 375F and increase baking time buy 15 minutes.
You can also make this with devil's food cake or add 2 Tablespoons cocoa to the filling and sprinkle with cocoa power instead of powered sugar.
At high alittidue I recomend cutting down to 1 large or extra large egg in the crust to avoid adding flour.
